Synopsis van H.M.S. Pinafore
H.M.S. Pinafore es una ópera cómica en dos actos, con música de Arthur Sullivan y libreto de W. S. Gilbert. Se estrenó en el Opera Comique de Londres el 25 de mayo de 1878 y fue un éxito internacional. La historia tiene lugar a bordo del buque de guerra H.M.S. Pinafore. Josephine, la hija del capitán, está enamorada de un marinero de clase baja, Ralph Rackstraw, aunque su padre desea que se case con Sir Joseph Porter, el Primer Lord del Almirantazgo. Josephine y Ralph declaran su amor mutuo y planean fugarse, pero Dick Deadeye revela el plan al capitán. El libreto de H.M.S. Pinafore satiriza el abuso de posición y poder, y el ascenso de personas sin talento a puestos de autoridad.
