Martyn Beardsley heeft zijn hele leven in Nottingham gewoond, de stad die altijd zijn thuis is geweest.
Hoewel hij bekend staat om zijn kinderliteratuur, koestert Beardsley een diepe passie voor historisch onderzoek.
Zijn oeuvre omvat onder meer een biografie over de arctische ontdekkingsreiziger Sir John Franklin uit 2002.
Na jarenlang als ambtenaar te hebben gewerkt, besloot hij zich volledig te concentreren op zijn productieve schrijverscarrière.
Met meer dan 50 gepubliceerde werken varieert zijn veelzijdigheid van humoristische fictie tot nauwgezette historische redactie.
